'God Lives Underwater' is back!
Ok I don't normally put personal stuff on my blog as I try to stay as nerdy & educational as possible but I have to rant about the fact that the band 'God Lives Underwater' aka GLU is back. When their label went out of business a couple years ago and they didn't get resigned to another label, I thought they were gone forever. I was able to track down like 6 new tracks back then (thank god for Napster) and enjoyed them very much. It seems their new CD comes out on the 28th this month (17 days) although it seems to be a very independant release as you pretty much have to buy it online. Their official website is at
http://www.EnjoyGLU.com/The singer's personal website is at
http://www.DavidReillyMusic.com/ and between thees two sites, you can
listen to 7 full full tracks of the new album and
listen to 2 full tracks of his solo release from earlier this year, which was an album I didn't know about until now. 3 of those 4 tracks on the I already had from years back, I'm glad they didn't abondon them as they're really good. Now I can own them legally as before there was no way to buy them as they were finished but GLU couldn't release them without a label.
Exec Summary: GLU had a top 40 hit and MTV video in 1998 'From Your Mouth'. Their style is a mix of guitar with (good) gothy sad singing and interesting electronics weaved in. Possibly the first band to mix accoustic guitar with electronic and sound good.
Update: Here's 2 free cool remixs of GLU tracks
