Proof that InkJet cartridges are a scam

A always thought InkJet carts were a rip off, but after reading this it really opened my eyes.

In a nutshell: Why does a microwave (which has a CPU, software, a keypad, the microwave core, hinges, etc etc) cost less than an inkjet cart?  The cart is just a very small piece of plastic, some ink jets and a very tiny circuit board to control the jets and report the ink level.  I'm not trying to compare size, but I really agree that a Microwave is much more complicated and uses more of the same raw materials as the ink cart.

This is why I bought a laserjet printer. Since I spent $200 on the printer, I have saved at least that much on ink.

That's one reason I also plan to pick up a color laser one of these days soon. I just bought an ink jet but it is for low volumes and I wanted the scanner, copier and FAX that are also built in.

Color laser is still pricey as I see the lowest street price for one is $600 and the quality is questionable until I see a few reviews. Although that's a lot cheaper than the $10,000 our company was paying for them just a couple years ago. Laser does offer an affordable price per page, I recall the HP studios showing that including printer life, paper cost and toner, Black & White was like 3 cents per sheet. But the kicker is that toner costs like $120 directly from HP, but only $40 for a recycled toner (it's dangerous to use recycle).
