Hi - I'm here under false pretext, really, as I'm a lecturer at a College, not a student... but before you shoot the messenger, as it were, please bear with me!

I'm trying to get information for my students as to how they can get hold of this brilliant deal on Visual Studio.net 2003 which you give - and, as a lecturer I can't register as a Premium user to see how it works.  I can tell them how to register with TheSpoke.net, but not what happens after they register as a Premium user -

Do they get the option to download the software directly?

Do they get a Cd or two sent to them by post (do you post to the UK?)?

How do they pay (many are not 18 and don't own credit cards - so how do they pay the $20, or whatever?)?

Also, while I'm about it, I came into this site from one called www.studentoptions.com, who have a link which should go direct to the info on the VisualStudio.net, I guess, but it gets the 'an error has occurred' message from your site - is that their link which is wrong, or your web site which is causing the error?

Would be great to get some response!

Thanks

Maggie B

Hi Maggie,

Students who sign up for theSpoke Premium have the option of downloading a copy of Visual Studio .NET 2003 Academic Edition or they can have the CDs mailed to them (in certain regions of the world).  The UK is a location where we fulfill CDs so students in your country can choose the method that they prefer.

Unfortunately, our only method of collecting payment right now is via credit card, so often times students will have to be assisted by a parent or friend to purchase the software.

The other resource you and your students should look at is the Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions.  These are lightweight versions of the individual Visual Studio languages (C#, VB, etc.) and are free to download by anyone.  The products are currently still in Beta, but released versions will be available in November.

As for the link from studentoptions.com, it is incorrect.  I will contact the appropriate people to see that it is updated.  Thanks for letting us know!

Mario
