In theSpoke v1.0, people actually have a .NET Passport account and a registered theSpoke account in order to leave a comment on blog entries. That is just too many hurdles/ clicks just to post a comment.

In theSpoke v2.0, things are a little different. We moved to Community Server, the login mechanism is form based instead of Passport. But the major hurdle for anyone to post a comment, they still have to sign in to theSpoke (i.e. register for an account).

IMHO, that is still too restrictive.

We should allow anyone to comment on the blog or forum entries. To prevent blog comments spam from bots, we can implement a post verification mechanism like asking the user to key in certain words. Otherwise, I feel we should open up the forum replies (only) and blog comments to the public.

Just my two cents worth ... comments anyone?

heh.  Comments anyone...  Classic.

Community Server allows for anonymous comments by default.

But theSpoke was designed that only registered users see the "Post a comment" link and we have that option in CommunityServer to turn off anonymous comments set to, well, off.

I'll relay your comments.

Thanks!

i agree that posting comments in thespoke are too troublesome now for non users.. i wouldn't want to register if i only want to comment.. so i'll end up not commenting.. please open up the blog commenting to anon users too..

I also think anonymous comments should be allowed
