I need urgent help with respect to subdomains. I manage a site *****.org and I recently add a subdomain to the site. Site is hosted by brinkster.com and creation of subdomains must be done thru the live support. I'm able to access the subdomain and it redirects to the home site successfully. Now the help! I used to think that subdomains are like a new folder on the root of the ftp and you dump your files there to make them available, but after a limited research I found its quite different. It's like you have to add an entry to the config file and then work. It's all so confusing and I'm unable to do anything! Pls every one out here post a few references and speak about there experiences! Thank in advance to all; this is very urgent. [I completely forgot about this deployment task]

What type of server is running?  Apache, Microsoft IIS or something else?  I should be able to help you with either.
