· Interface Designer world finals will consist of two rounds.
· Round 1 – 60 / 100 points will be awarded from this round.
o Participants will have to demonstrate their applications from Round 2 in front of a panel of 3 judges.
o Participants are free to make improvements to their Round 2 applications as long as they don’t deviate from the general application theme presented for Round 2 judging.
o Each participating team will be given a total of 20 minutes to present (15 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for answering questions from judges).
o Each participating team will be given the choice to format their presentation in whichever format they think is appropriate (as long as they keep their presentation under 15 minutes). Each team will be required to show their interface at some point during their presentation – we encourage the teams to stick to demonstrating their interface for most of duration of the presentation.
o Each team will have to bring anything in addition to the following that will be required for their presentation. We will provide:
§ A computer with Windows Vista Beta 2 pre-installed on it (Note: If your application targets WinFX, you will need to port your application to Beta2 of WinFX to ensure that the application runs on Windows Vista Beta 2).
§ All the Microsoft Expression tools pre-installed
§ Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition pre-installed
§ IIS pre-installed
§ Microsoft Office 2007 Beta2 pre-installed
§ Projector
§ Speakers
o Each team will be given only 10 minutes to setup their software on this demonstration PC prior to Round 1. Hence, they should come prepared for installing all their requirements within the stipulated time limits.
· Round 2 – 40/100 points will be awarded from this round.
o On-site 24 hour design competition.
o Participants will be given 24 hours to design an interface.
o The theme for the interface will be given on-site in India, and the participants will have to design an interface around this theme. The theme will be related to the theme for this year – health.
o In addition to the theme, some content will be provided to the participants that they will have to incorporate in their interface.
o For designing the application, each participating team will provided:
§ A computer with Windows XP pre-installed
§ All the Microsoft Expression tools pre-installed
§ Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition pre-installed
§ IIS pre-installed
§ Microsoft Office 2007 Beta2 pre-installed
§ Speakers
o Participants will be responsible for bringing any additional software required for assisting in creating their interface.
o Similar to Round 2, the interface will have to be created on any existing or emerging Microsoft technology of your choice.
