если подходить с точки зрения партийной солидарности - то что-нибудь отсюда http://www.microsoft.com/games/default.aspx

do you know what category of games he likes?  shooters?  real-time strategy (RTS)? social simulators (e.g. Sims)?  if you can narrow it down that would help.

short of knowing his preference, I'll throw a few of my favorites in these categories;

- RTS: Age of Empires III (http://www.microsoft.com/games/pc/age3.aspx)
- Shooter: Battlefield 2 - Special Forces (
http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/specialforces/us/home.jsp)
- Social simulator: Cinema Tycoon (
http://www.tikgames.com/games.aspx?gid=19); seems silly I know but this games keeps me pretty entertained! :)

start with Age of Empires III--he should like that.  I just ordered Star Wars - Empire at War which got fairly good reviews at IGN (http://pc.ign.com/articles/688/688963p1.html).  good luck!

The last one I played was Star Wars: Empire at War (strategy). Just released. He can have hours and  hours of entertaiment.

I bought Empire at War over the weekend, and I must say it looks like a very decent single player game. I have played it for a total of 2 hours maybe, and although it does not really have that "Star Wars feel" it is still a great game.

If he is a strategy fan, and dosen't own a copy of Starcraft / Broodwar, I would deffinently suggest picking it up! It has been out since 98' and is still wildly popular around the world. (will be a good cheap gift too ;) )

My sons (oldest now 18) love the Halo series, and can't wait for Halo 3!

(Personally, I've always been partial to the Myst series.)
